Manila Briefing Kicks Off TGS 2025 Roadshow

On April 11, 2025, the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2025 held its ninth international briefing at the F1 Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Manila. Part of a wider Asia–Middle East tour, this session previewed what’s in store for September 25–28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

“Unlimited, Never-ending Playground”

Tokyo Game Show 2025 Theme

The central theme for TGS 2025 is “Unlimited, Never-ending Playground”, underscoring a pledge to build an inclusive, boundary-breaking gaming festival. Organizers aim to unite developers and players globally, transforming the event into a universal space for creativity and play.

Event Scale & Expectations

Building on TGS 2024’s success—274,739 visitors and 985 exhibitors from 44 countries—the 2025 edition projects over 250,000 attendees. Maintaining its hybrid format, TGS will blend on-site showcases with online content accessible via the official website and platforms like Steam.

Spotlight on Indie Talent

A major focus of the briefing was the Indie 80 initiative, which grants 80 independent developers free exhibition space, complete with booth setup and equipment. Selected teams will also compete at the Sense of Wonder Night (SOWN), a celebration of innovative game design. Filipino studios are especially encouraged to apply, as their story-driven, culture-rich projects have strong appeal to Japanese publishers.

New Exhibitor Rules & Accessibility

Organizers outlined revised guidelines to streamline booth layouts and optimize foot traffic. Only exhibitors booking 42+ booths can opt for an island-style arrangement. TGS 2025 will also introduce an Accessibility Zone, showcasing advancements in gaming access for all abilities. Public days will now begin at 9:30 AM, giving attendees more exploration time.
