Borderlands 4 Officially Launches Worldwide

The wait is finally over. Borderlands 4 has landed, and Vault Hunters everywhere are jumping into the looter-shooter chaos once again. Released on September 12, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game is already pulling huge attention, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version set to drop on October 3.

A New Planet, A New Fight

This time, the action takes place on Kairos, a planet caught in conflict after a rogue moon destabilized its protective barrier. At the center of it all is The Timekeeper, a tyrant who enforces control through cybernetic implants and an army known as The Order. Players step into the shoes of four new Vault Hunters, each with their own skill trees, abilities, and playstyles.

Fresh Features

Borderlands 4 introduces new systems that mix up the classic looter-shooter formula. An Enhancements slot lets players tweak their abilities, while the new Ordnance slot provides access to heavy weapons and powerful grenades. Co-op play has been expanded with cross-play support, dynamic level scaling, and instanced loot so everyone in the squad gets their fair share of the chaos.

Early Reception

Critics are praising the game’s addictive loop of shooting and looting, as well as its fresh world design. Kairos brings larger interconnected zones, unpredictable weather effects, and new traversal options that make exploration more engaging. Review scores are trending positive, with many calling it one of Gearbox’s most ambitious entries yet.

What’s Next

While some players have reported technical hiccups, Gearbox has confirmed patches are already in the works. For now, the sheer excitement around Borderlands 4 proves the series still has plenty of firepower left.
