I’ve been sinking way too much time into Sanctuary lately, and my sleep schedule is basically non-existent. Between the endless Helltides and trying to push higher pits, I’m always looking for ways to snag cheap Diablo 4 items to keep my build from falling apart. But the real talk this week isn’t about the grind; it’s about this crazy Greater Affix trick people are sharing on Discord. I was super skeptical at first because, let’s be honest, most “exploits” are just bait. But after trying it on a 3GA bow I was terrified of bricking, I’m a believer. It actually works, and it’s saving my sanity.

How the GA lock actually works
The whole idea is to stop the Horadric Cube from eating your best stats. We all know that gut-wrenching pain when a perfect roll just vanishes into thin air. Basically, you take your gear to the Occultist. You pick the Greater Affix you want to save and hit reroll. But here’s the kicker: you don’t actually change the stat. You just select the original roll again. For some reason, the game’s backend flags it as “enchanted” now. When you toss that item back into the Cube for a Focused or Chaotic Reroll, the Cube just ignores that specific slot. I tested it on a massive Vulnerable Damage roll last night. Ran five recipes, and that stat didn’t budge once.

What you need to watch out for
It’s May 6, 2026, and the community is still figuring out the limits of this thing. From what I’ve seen, locking one GA is solid. Some guys claim they’ve locked two, but that feels a bit buggy and risky to me. I’m sticking to one for now. The most important thing is the order of operations. You’ve gotta temper your gear first. If you try to lock the stat before you finish your tempering, you’re just asking for a bricked item. It’s a specific loop: temper, lock at the Occultist, then hit the Cube. Do it out of order, and you’ll regret it.

Why this changes the endgame grind
This method makes finishing BiS pieces way less of a nightmare. Even for uniques, being able to lock a high-roll GA before messing with the unique power is a total lifesaver. It doesn’t mean the grind is over—you still need plenty of Primordial Dust—but at least we have some control over the RNG. If you’re tired of farming for hours just to watch a good item die, you should definitely check out u4gm to stock up on materials or gold to fund these rerolls. It’s easily the best way to get ahead without losing your mind. If you’ve got a 3GA piece gathering dust in your stash because you’re scared to ruin it, just give this a go.
